After losing their home in the Thomas Fire, AGD designed this replacement residence as a two-story, three bedroom modern retreat. Designed with fire resistant materials, and simple, modern aesthetics this retreat blends into the natural setting of this Santa Paula orchard.

The entry level hosts an open floor plan for entertaining that opens to a large covered pool deck. Large sliding doors allow the outdoor living to blend into the interior living spaces. The lower level hosts two bedrooms that are sunken into the hillside. The design exposes the concrete retaining walls on the interior of the bottom level as a design aesthetic.

Overall, this home allows for the homeowners to live off-the-grid with solar generation while being resilient to fires and weather with a durable exterior design. This oasis makes you feel as if you are not even close to civilization.
